Ariane Sommer has hosted numerous TV shows broadcast in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The shows' content centered on lifestyle, fashion, entertainment and cooking.

 

Among the titles are:

"Lebensart" and "Lebensart Gourmet" (roughly translates to "Life & Style" and "Life, Art & Food") for NTV (100 plus episodes were produced)


"Top of the Pops" for RTL (numerous guest hosting appearances)

Ariane Sommer started modeling at the age of thirteen when she was discovered in a cafe in South Beach, Miami, where she and her family lived at the time while her father represented the German government as the Consul General.
Although she found success quite early in this profession, appearing in teen magazines, catalogues and commercial spots, she decided to make education her priority.

With fifteen she moved from the United States to attend the renowned Salem boarding school in Germany from which she proceeded to study Political Sciences at the well-regarded Freie Universitaet in Berlin.

While attending university, Sommer reprised her modeling career in order to supplement her financial needs and continue to feed her desire to see the world. During this time she traveled throughout Europe and worked in Paris, Milan, Athens, New York and Berlin.

 

She has been featured in a variety of top fashion and lifestyle magazines, as well as having graced the covers of publications, such as:

Cosmopolitan, Max, GQ, MAXIM, Kultur-Spiegel, Joy Celebrity, InStyle and many others.


Sommer's entree to the acting world resulted directly from her work as a model.
She was discovered by a casting agency on a commercial for Telekom which featured her alongside renowned German actor Manfred Krug.


Her first feature film was "The Kasachstan Lady," a CCC Film picture. She was featured in a supporting role as the jealous girlfriend of the lead actor. From then on, Sommer became a regular on TV series, TV movies and feature films.

In summer 2007 Ariane made her US film debut in the SONY Pictures and A&E production "Kings of South Beach", written by Nicholas Pileggi whose writing credits include "Casino" and "Goodfellas" and he produced the 2007 hit feature film "American Gangster."

She landed the supporting role of Michelle Rose, the assistant to lead actor, who portrayed a Miami mobster and nightlife impresario. Other cast members included Donnie Wahlberg, Steven Bauer, Ricardo Chavira and Jason Gedrick.
